Release notes

Features, improvements and fixes in ModernMES. Updates reach the cloud version automatically, so there is nothing for you to do.

  1. v1.15.0

    Improvement

Country and material averages for the carbon estimate

If you don’t know an emission factor, Traceability → Lot and emission settings now lets you pick from published averages.

    • Grid electricity: the Pick from country averages link under the factor field lists the averages of 30 countries, the EU and the world. For Turkey it also lists the Ministry of Energy’s 2023 factors (site on the distribution grid, site on the transmission grid, national average). Use writes the value and its source into the form; press Save to apply it.
    • Materials: the Average values button shows per-kg figures published by producers’ associations for steel, stainless steel, aluminium, copper and zinc. The value you pick goes into the add form; you enter the material code.
    • The figures are approximate; if your supplier or electricity contract states a figure, use that. The source of the value you pick is shown next to it everywhere.
    • Also: dialogs with long content (such as a machine signal source key) no longer run off the screen, and the key is shown in full.
  2. v1.14.0

    Improvement

Signal collection page in the menu; “How it works” for Traceability

The signal guide that left the menu after the first signal now stays there as Signal collection (for the Admin and Manager roles). Come back to it whenever you add a new way of collecting signals.

    • When you pick a method, a To do for this method list opens under the animation that shows how it works: operators, the shop-floor user, paired phones, machine labels, the signal source and so on.
    • What is already in the panel comes ticked, with how many items are ready at the top; each step has a button to the page where it is done.
    • The Traceability page has a How does traceability work? card at the top that explains the section in three steps with an example. It is open while you have no lots, then folds into one line.
  3. v1.13.2

    Fix

Fixes to adding operators, quote steps and picking dates

We fixed a few glitches you may have noticed in the panel:

    • Add Operator now always opens an empty form instead of the details of the operator you added before.
    • On a quote, Production steps no longer need a sideways scroll: each step is a card with the operation on top and its resource group, machine, operator, times and hourly rate below, arranged to the width of your screen.
    • Clicking a date field opens the calendar, and the calendar icon is now visible in the dark theme.
    • In the new quote window, the Owner picker fills its field.
    • On Resource groups, the search box and the workshop filter sit side by side without the search icon slipping.
  4. v1.13.1

    Improvement

Accepting agreements now goes step by step

When there is an agreement for you to accept, the panel now shows the texts one at a time. Each step opens one text in a large area; once you have scrolled to its end, the I have read and accept it button unlocks and takes you to the next text.

    • The list of steps at the top shows how many texts are left and which ones you have accepted.
    • Back takes you to a text you accepted, to read it again.
    • Your acceptances are saved together at the last step; if you sign out half way, none is saved.
  5. v1.13.0

    Improvement

You now stay signed in while you use the panel

As long as you keep using the panel, you stay signed in; you are no longer asked to sign in again a day after signing in. Only a session that has not been used for 30 days ends and asks you to sign in again.
Signing out, changing your password or ending a session under Settings → Security still ends it at once.

  6. v1.12.0

    New feature

Machine stop, maintenance and quality alerts, and a working notification bell

The bell in the top bar now shows your real notifications: the unread count, the latest notifications, and marking one or all as read. Click a notification to open the page it is about.
Admins choose what raises an alert and who receives it under Settings → Alerts:

    • Machine stopped: a machine has been stopped or broken down for the time you set (5 minutes by default). Planned stops do not count, and nothing is sent for a stop that ends before the time is up.
    • Stop with no reason: a stop without a reason has lasted longer than the time you set (10 minutes by default).
    • Maintenance: a new maintenance order is opened, or a planned maintenance has still not started a day after its planned start.
    • Quality check failed: a check is recorded as failed.

Each rule can be turned on or off and sent to the roles you pick; by default the admin roles receive them.
Your choices under Settings → Notifications are now saved. The "work order completed" notification no longer goes to everyone: turn on in-app notifications for Work Order Updates to receive it.

  7. v1.11.0

    Improvement

A new due date filter on the dashboard

The due date filter on the dashboard is no longer a date box but a picker next to the other filters.

    • Quick ranges: Overdue, This week, This month, Next 30 days.
    • Project due dates: the due dates of the projects that match your filters, nearest first, each with its number of open jobs. Click a project to see the work due by that date.
    • A calendar for any other day, formatted for your language.
    • "Include items without a deadline" and a one-click clear are in the same panel.
  8. v1.10.0

    Improvement

A simpler menu, and traceability settings in one place

    • The setup guide no longer shows in the menu once your first machine signal has arrived.
    • Shop Floor (the operator terminal) is no longer in the menu. The terminal opens directly when the shop-floor user signs in; you can also open it from the first-signal guide and the work order screen.
    • The lot number prefix and the grid and material emission factors are now on the Lot and emission settings tab of the Traceability page. The old Settings → Traceability and emissions link opens that tab.
  9. v1.9.0

    New feature

Machine signals can now be sent over MQTT

PLC gateways, Node-RED and sensor boxes can now send whether a machine is running or stopped straight to ModernMES over MQTT. The connection is encrypted with TLS.

    • Create a signal source in Settings → Machine signals. For MQTT, the username is the source's ID and the password is its key.
    • The server address, port and ready-to-copy Node-RED and Python examples are on the same page and in the "Get your first signal from the floor" guide.
    • Each machine publishes to its own topic. A source can only publish to its own topics and subscribing is turned off, so no company can see another company's data or affect its devices.
    • Sending over HTTP works as before, and a source can use both.
  10. v1.8.0

    Improvement

User and account changes now reach open screens right away

When a user is deactivated, deleted or has their password changed, every session they have open now ends at once. The screen goes back to the sign-in page and says why the session ended. Before, a screen left open could keep working for a few more minutes.

    • When you change your own password, the session you changed it from stays signed in; your sessions on other devices end.
    • In Settings → Security, the session list now marks the device you are using as Current. A device you sign out from the list is signed out immediately, and Revoke All Others keeps your own session open.
    • When a user's role or details change, their open screen updates without reloading the page.
    • When we change your package, add-ons, subscription or billing method for you, the menu, usage limits and subscription details refresh by themselves on your company's open screens.
    • When a company account is suspended or closed, all of its open sessions end at once.
  11. v1.7.0

    New feature

Gift packages on the subscription page

When the ModernMES team gives your account a package free until a date, Settings → Subscription now shows which package it is and until when.

    • No invoices are issued and your saved card is not charged during the gift, and nothing is charged automatically when it ends.
    • The page also says what happens when the gift ends: your earlier paid subscription or your trial carries on where it left off, or you choose a package to keep using ModernMES.
    • If no paid subscription carries on after the gift, you can choose a package while the gift runs: it applies right away and your paid period starts the day the gift ends.
    • Your account's admins get an e-mail 7 days and 1 day before the gift ends.
  12. v1.6.3

    Improvement

The AI assistant is easier to find in the top bar

The assistant button in the top bar is now a larger, colourful, animated button labelled AI; click it or press Ctrl+J to open it.

    • The What's new button now has a megaphone icon, so it no longer looks like the assistant.
    • If you have turned on reduced motion, the button stays still.
  13. v1.6.2

    Fix

Machine status now updates on screen right away

When a machine's status changes (by hand, from the operator screen or from a machine signal), the Machines list, the machine page, the dashboard and the shop floor screen now update within seconds without reloading the page. Before, the change showed up only on the next refresh.

    • Downtimes and OEE reports also refresh by themselves when a downtime opens or closes.
    • If the connection drops (for example during an update), the screen reconnects by itself, so wall boards left open for a long time no longer need a manual reload.
  14. v1.6.1

    Improvement

Agreements must be read before they are accepted

The agreements asked at sign-up, at checkout and after signing in now each have their own checkbox.

    • An agreement's checkbox unlocks once its text has been opened and scrolled to the end; each one is tracked separately.
    • The button at the bottom of the text window accepts the agreement you have just read.
    • The text can also be scrolled with the keyboard (Page Down, End).
  15. v1.6.0

    New feature

    What's new page

The What's new button in the panel's top bar shows the features, improvements and fixes added to ModernMES, version by version. When something new arrives after your last visit, the button shows a dot.

    • The same notes are published on the website.
    Improvement

    Error messages in your language

Error and warning messages from the server are now shown in the language you use the panel in, too.

    Improvement

    Agreements and your acceptances

The terms of use and privacy texts are now versioned. When a text is updated, the panel shows what changed when you sign in and asks you to accept the new version.

    • Settings → My agreements shows which version of each agreement you accepted and when.
    New feature

Machine signals: let machines report their own state

On the new Settings → Machine signals page you add a signal source, then send your machines' running / stopped state over HTTP from a script, a gateway or another program.

    • You choose a signal mode per machine: Manual (the default; signals are only recorded), Signal + operator (the status comes from the signal, and long stops open by themselves for a reason to be entered) or Automatic (in addition, OEE availability is calculated from the run time the signal measures).
    • Nothing is counted twice: a machine has only one open downtime at a time.
    • You can give stops a reason from the Downtimes without a reason list in the OEE report.
    • The machine page shows the latest state from the signal, and every signal that arrives appears in Recent events.
    • The First signal step of the setup guide explains each method with copyable examples. Machines with an OPC UA server connect through a gateway.
    New feature

    Traceability and product passport

Record the lots you produce, the material lots that went into them and their certificates.

    • For every lot you can trace which work orders and machines produced it.
    • An energy and carbon estimate per job is calculated from the machine's power and run time.
    • The QR code on a lot label opens a public product passport page with the information you choose to publish.
    New feature

Quotes priced from your shop's own history

On the new Quotes page, times and costs for a part are estimated from how long similar jobs actually took in your shop.

    • You can see what each estimate is based on (how many finished jobs, the median and 80th percentile time per piece).
    • Take the steps from a saved routing, the part's routing, a routing suggested from history or a past job, and edit them right in the quote.
    • Capacity impact previews what the quote's steps would add to today's queue if it is won; the plan and reports do not change.
    • Every quote you send is kept as a revision (Rev 1, Rev 2…); later changes become a new revision when sent again, and the old one stays readable.
    • Give each quote an owner and a follow-up date; quotes past their follow-up date are marked in the list. A quote's history shows who did what and when.
    • Print a quote in Turkish or English, copy it to start a new one, cancel it, and turn a won quote into a project with one click.
